- Tutor: Annette Moloney
- Duration: 1 day - Tuesday 15th November 2022
We are delighted to welcome Annette Moloney back for a popular workshop on writing Creative proposals. Writing proposals can be a challenging and time consuming exercise for artists and creative practitioners. It's not always easy to communicate an unrealised idea and it can take time and effort to transform some blank A4 paper into a clear and creative proposal that will, hopefully, capture the imagination of a selection panel. On top of that our arts practices are constantly changing and evolving, which leaves us with the challenge of having to renew and refresh how we communicate what we do.
This informal and informative session will be divided into two parts. In the morning we will be looking at writing and developing creative proposals while in the afternoon a series of one-on-one clinics are available for artists to pre-book, where material can be submitted beforehand to be discussed and reviewed.
The day will include a presentation and conversation on best practice in writing proposals and applications. The workshop will cover hints and tips in developing proposals; a discussion on some ‘watch-out-fors’ and common pitfalls; observations on selection processes and panels as well as selection criteria; advice on sample headings to communicate ideas clearly and creatively; suggestions for supporting documentation, CVs and Biogs as well as advice on time management and the dangers of procrastination.
It will be a great opportunity to focus on a project that you intend to seek support for in 2023 and have it critically reviewed.
One-on-One Clinics
As part of this Creative Frame event Artists can pre-book one-on-one clinic session to discuss their practice or a current challenge or question they may have in relation to developing a project or applying for funding. These clinic sessions work best when Artists take the time to submit information beforehand, which will be forwarded to the workshop leader. Artists can send in anything that they would like feedback on, for example:
A current draft proposal or application for funding
A pending or planned proposal or application for funding that could be discussed
A draft CV, Biog or Artists Statement
Documentation of your arts practice - some focused material that communicates what you do, for example - selected web pages are fine (rather than a full website); 10 jpegs, 3-4 audio or video clips; short text or script for review, etc.
All advance material for review will need to be submitted no later than: Thursday November 10th by 12:00. The workshop leader will spend time before the workshop reviewing the information submitted so that the one-on-one clinics can be focused on the Artists current needs. To book for a one to one clinic please email Leslie Ryan at creativeframeleitrim@gmail.com.
Who should attend?
This practical workshop and one-on-one clinics are suitable for practitioners from all artforms, so if you are a visual artist, musician, writer, architect, theatre producer, designer/ maker or dancer and you have an upcoming project or funding deadline, or intend to make one in the future, the day will be a great opportunity to build your capacity in this area and also to meet with other members of Creative Frame. The workshop is open to practitioners in Leitrim and the surrounding counties. There will be 20 places available.
