Charitable Object

The main object for which the Company was established, is to promote the practice and improve the understanding of the fine arts in Ireland.


The following objects are to be regarded as subsidiary and ancillary to the above main object:

  • To organise studios and residential accommodation for artist.
  • To maintain a permanent centre for the practice of the fine arts.

Company Structure

LSC was incorporated on the 18th September 1997, as a company limited by guarantee not having a share capital.

Charitable status was granted by Revenue to the company on 4th March 1998 - CHY 12715. 
We are registered with the Charities Regulatory and our listing can be viewed at: the Charities Regulator website.

By virtue of the Charities Act 2009, the Directors of the company are deemed also to be charity Trustees.

The Report and Statements are presented in a form which complies both with the requirements of the Charities Act 2014, and also the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (Charities SORP) applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard (FRS102) applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Governance Code

LSC became compliant with The Code of Governance for Community and Voluntary Organisations (www.governancecode.ie) in September 2017. LSC also comply to the Boardmatch Governance Scale ‘A’ Standard for governance.

I addition, we became compliant on 26th October 2021 with the new Charities Regulatory Authority’s ‘Charities Governance Code' and we continue to review policies and procedures on a regular basis.



Leitrim Sculpture Centre Seeks Board Members

Leitrim Sculpture Centre (LSC) is seeking expressions of interest from experienced individuals to contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation by joining its Board of Directors.

Skills Required:

LSC welcomes applications from people with expertise in the following areas:

Legal and Corporate Governance, Accounting and Finance, Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion

LSC particularly welcomes applicants with robust knowledge of governance principles and structures, preferably in the art, non-profit, and charities sectors in Ireland.

Responsibilities of LSC Board Members:

Actively participating in board meetings, discussions, and decision-making processes;Sharing expertise and insights gained from the arts, non-profit, and charities sectors;Contributing to the strategic direction and development of LSC;Ensuring the compliance of LSC with its charitable purpose;Supporting LSC’s philosophy, vision, and core values.

Commitment:

Board Meetings: Three per year (1-2 hours) online;AGM: One per year, in person (County Leitrim);Subcommittee Meetings: 1-2 per year (1-2 hours) online;

Board membership is a voluntary, unpaid position. Board Members will serve a three-year term, renewable to a maximum of six years.
