The workshop will introduce how computer programming and working with data can be used in creative practice. The workshop will explore concepts in computer programming for visual and generative art. Computer programming basics will be introduced, specifically, those of the programming language named Processing P5.js, including variables, conditionals and loops. Participants will learn how to use P5.js to create digital and physical artworks through experimentation of these fundamental concepts. They will be introduced to how data can be generated and manipulated to form visual representations and forms. Participants will learn how plotters can be used to create physical artworks from digital counterparts. These are simple devices that receive instructions from a computer and draw using a moving arm on a X and Y axis. Finally participants will combine their learned skills in computer programming and the use of plotting devices to create physical artworks through creative coding.
Accommodation: We have private rooms available for €30 per night in our residential building. Please book you tickets to the workshop on Eventbrite and then email us to see if we have a room available to: info@leitrimsculpturecentre.ie.
