Working across the boundaries of various mediums Kate Fahey’s work explores our relationship with images through contemporary screen-based perspectives: aerial, satellite and elevated (drone's eye) views. Focusing on imagery predominantly appropriated from YouTube, Fahey is interested in verbal and visual falsehoods, broken images, ambiguity and half-truth. Employing such fictional devices she reimagines human presence in the military’s highly mediated and mystified representation of war, attempting to express the complex set of connections at play between bodies, aerial images, machines and the spectatorship of contemporary warfare online.
For this exhibition the artist worked with Sarah Barrett, Assistant Professor at the Discipline of Radiation Therapy, Trinity College, Dublin to generate phantom forms from radiological scans of artificial human bodies.

Kate Fahey
Kate Fahey is an artist working with print, sculpture, moving image and installation. She received a BA in Fine Art Printmaking from Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen and an MA in Fine Art Printmaking at the Royal College of Art, London. Recent projects include Repetitive Strain, (solo) at Lewisham Art House, London (2018); a Mead residency at the British School at Rome; Secret Stations, (solo) at Callan Workhouse Union, Kilkenny; Going Dark, Guest Projects, London (2017); The Bloomberg New Contemporaries, ICA London; and The Jerwood Drawing Prize, Jerwood Space, London (2016). She is an AHRC TECHNE funded practice based PhD candidate at the University of the Arts, London.
