Residency 16/5/24 - 26/5/24

Lucy Sheridan is a visual artist based in Kildare with a studio in Talbot Studios, Dublin. Lucy’s practice is process-driven, allowing space for the materials to dictate the direction of a given piece, with colour and materials at the forefront. Lucy employs materials like clay, paper mache, and paint to craft a cohesive body of work that can be appreciated as a unified whole.

Each ceramic object is hand-built, ensuring that no two pieces are the same. She uses glaze to decorate these objects, and the final glaze firing often results in surprising colours and tones—sometimes courageously brash and a bit awkward. Embracing failure is an essential part of her creative process.

Lucy embraces the imperfections of each piece—they are not refined objects but rather invite viewers to question their understanding of what constitutes a 'well-made' piece of ceramic work. This playful exploration engages with taste, value, and association.
