Fiona Kelly’s practice encompasses printmaking, drawing and mixed media sculptural installations to explore ideas of disposability, the interim and regeneration. Her current work re-appropriates materials in a state of rejection; concrete from demolition sites, cardboard, plywood, bitumen and dust. Kelly alters her foraged remnants, by-products of the urban landscape, and deploys inanimate objects as central characters in her visually narrated modern fables. During her residency at LSC Kelly will explore the potential of crushed building aggregate and re-cycled limestone dust to make castings of her own designs. These are accompanied by a series of printed works incorporated into a large wooden architectural structure built into the main gallery space.

Fiona Kelly is an Irish multidisciplinary visual artist who completed her MA in Art & Process, receiving first class honours from the Crawford College of Art & Design, 2016. She holds a B.A in Sculpture, G.M.I.T, 2005, and a B.A (Honours) in Fine Art, Printmaking, received from the Crawford College of Art, Cork, 2008. Kelly has exhibited internationally her recent exhibitions include; The Dispersed Gallery, Middlesbrough Art Weekender, Curated by Liam Slevin & Paul Stewart; Geological Cake, The Burren College of Art; I Went to the Woods, Curated by Chris Clarke & Padraic E. Moore, Glucksman Gallery; Dust Breeding (Solo) SOMA Contemporary, Ireland; NEU NOW Festival, Amsterdam, The Netherlands; You Make Mine/ I Make Yours, Ratamo Galleria, Jyväskylä, Finland. She has been the recipient of numerous awards including The Arts Council of Ireland Individual Artists Bursary, the Culture Ireland Award, and the European Pépinières pour Jeunes Artistes Residency Award.

Fiona Kelly works as a freelance educator accepting invitations as a Visiting Lecturer at the Art Academy of Riga, Latvia; The Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork and at The Burren College of Art, NUIG, Co. Clare, Ireland.

Past Residencies
