Anna’s practice is multi-faceted. Her studio practice is primarily concerned with the world of materiality, and the curious and playful language inherent in the processes of both object-making and painting. In tandem, she pursues a diverse socially engaged and collaborative practice which draws on her background in community development and her interest in education.
Anna Spearman
Anna Spearman is a visual artist based in Sligo and Leitrim, currently working from a studio residency at the Dock, Carrick on Shannon. She holds a BA in History of Art (TCD), a BA in Fine Art (ATU Sligo), and an MA in Fine Art: Contemporary Practice (University College Falmouth). Recent residencies include the Scottish Sculpture Workshop (2023), IPUT/RHA Wilton Place Studios (2023), PADA studios in Barreiro, Lisbon (2021) and a long-term collaborative residency and engagement with KCAT in Callan (2016- )
Recent exhibitions include Invited Guests with Kian Benson Bailes and Orla McHardy at the Dock (2024), Wilton Place studio artists at the RHA (2024), LUSUS at the Courthouse Gallery (2023), hashtag WIP with Kian Benson Bailes and Orla McHardy at Roscommon Arts Centre 2022, Loose Parts solo exhibition curated by Naomi Draper at Roscommon Arts Centre 2021, ..and Other Things solo exhibition at Hyde Bridge Gallery, Sligo 2020.
