These workshops are open to those who have booked Ceramic Construction Workshops previously.
The effects of different glaze ingredients will be explained using examples of finished glaze works. Participants will combine different glaze ingredients such as oxides and carbonates along with powdered metals, minerals and stains to make a range of glaze recipes. Participants will learn how to apply these substances to different types of clays and understand the relevant operating kiln temperatures and timings for each type and how these factors amongst others can dramatically change the final effect or appearance of the finished piece. Protective masks and gloves will be provided, wear hair covering.

Herbie McCann is from County Down in the North of Ireland and holds a BA in contemporary and applied Art from the Ulster University of Belfast. McCann has over 25 years of working in a wide variety of materials such as fibreglass, wood, metal, stone and especially ceramics. He currently lives in North Leitrim and is a registered freelance technician and mentor for Ceramics and clay-related work with the Leitrim Sculpture Centre
