Participants will get hands-on experience with using the different types of clays available and their properties including crank, terracotta, porcelain, earthenware and stoneware. Techniques of construction will include: rolling, coiling and slab-building for use in making vessels, sculptural forms or both. Participants will also get a chance to operate the pottery wheel. The finished clay forms will first be bone dried and then bisque fired ready for stage 2 of the process when the now hard ceramic pieces are ready to take surface treatment in the Glazing Workshop. Please bring sketch books with some visual ideas.
Accommodation: We have private rooms available for €30 per night in our residential building. Please book you tickets to the workshop on Eventbrite and then email us to see if we have a room available to: info@leitrimsculpturecentre.ie.
