New Horizons - New Hospital Enniskillen, Public Art Commission

Leitrim Sculpture Centre Community Engagement

As a result of a public Art commissioning process for the new hospital in Enniskellin, visual artist Niall Walsh was required to link up with a group in the town to undertake a sculpture related activity.

Bringing together the New Horizons Mental Care facility and day-care centre, the Leitrim Sculpture Centre and Geraldine O Reilly the community rep for the New Hospital), a series of workshops in sculpture processes were designed and implimented.

A sucessfull application was made to the Arts Council of Nothern Ireland.

The theme for the workshops is the Erne waterways. The focus in the workshops promotes the process and relational dynamics and out of this the final form and outcome of the project is realised.

There will be a touring exhibition of the results taking placed in Nothern Ireland in 2012 as well as an exhibition of work proposed for the Leitrim Sculpture Centre also around this time.
